Revision of standards EN 1676 and EN 1706

October 2010

In March 2010, the revisions of the European Standard EN 1676 (Alloyed ingots for remelting. Specifications) and Standard EN 1706 (Castings. Chemical composition and mechanical properties) became official).
Standard EN 1676:2010 defines the quality requisites of aluminium alloy ingots intended for remelting. It specifies the classification and designation which apply to these qualities, manufacturing conditions, their features and identification markings.
Standard EN 1706:2010 specifics the chemical composition limits of aluminium alloys for casting and the mechanical features of the separate casting test specimens for said alloys.

These standards are reference guidelines in the world of foundry aluminium alloys and casting manufacturing. Therefore we deem it useful to inform you concerning the main "novelties" of the new Standards compared to the previous ones.
